Mr. Roca began his work in this company in 1965, in the city of Houston, and later worked in the kitchens of: Santo Antonio, Chicago, Philadelphia and Miami.
When Dobbs House, the most prestigious and world-renowned flight catering company at the time decided to establish in the Dominican Republic in the year 1970, it began operations at International Airport Las Americas -SDQ- in Santo Domingo, and appointed Mr Juan Jesús Roca as its President due to his vast experience in the management and experience in the direction and management of such business.
As a result of the good performance and great success achieved at SDQ and taking into consideration the growth and development of tourism in the city of Puerto Plata, in 1979 Dobbs House decided to expand its operations to the International Airport Gregorio Luperón -POP-, installing a second flight kitchen there.
To offer better services in both locations, in 1980 the facilities were expanded and redesigned, adding an additional area of 20,000 and 8,000 square feet in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata, respectively, to increase the number of units produced at the highest standards of hygiene and safety in the food industry.
In 1986, Dobbs House decided to internally restructure and decided to operate only within the United States; and after 21 years of uninterrupted service in the company, on October 6, 1986, Mr. Roca received the endorsement of the Board of Directors and the operations in the Dominican Republic were transferred to him in recognition of his extraordinary achievements, and then the company changed its name to JJ ROCA.
In a process of growth, in the 90’s the kitchen in Puerto Plata was further expanded to cover an area of 32,500 square feet.
By the year 2000, JJ ROCA was qualified as a Special Free Zone company because all its production is for export, thus been considered an engine of development and generator of hard currency for the benefit of the country.
In recognition of its reliable services, in February 2014, JJ ROCA signed a contract with the operator Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI to provide in-flight catering services to airlines departing from the International Airport Presidente Juan Bosch -AZS- located in the community of El Catey, Samaná.
JJ ROCA has been an example of dedication and efficiency, as evidenced throughout its history by the trust placed by great personalities that fill us with pride, among which we can name: Pope John Paul II, various kings, presidents, world famous artists, among others; not to mention the more than 100 airlines that we have provided services for, including some of the largest worldwide, such as the famous Concorde aircraft when it came to the country.
JJ ROCA not only offers catering services, but over the years it has included other products to its portfolio, to complement the in-flight cuisine and make the customer’s experience more and more satisfying and positive. Currently, the company has a staff of highly qualified professionals in different productive and administrative areas, led by its President Mr. Juan Jesus Roca.
